Chief Secretary of the Department of Transportation in New Taipei City Government, Chien-chuan Chu, stated that the government is promoting the full electrification of city buses by 2030. Currently, New Taipei City leads the nation with the fastest progress, reaching nearly a 30% adoption rate. Starting from October 8th, 2025, the Taipei Bus Company’s Route 932 “Sanxia–Banqiao” Express Line that operates in New Taipei City has begun gradually replacing its fleet with brand-new electric buses, further extending the city’s leadership in electric public transportation.

The chairman of Taipei Bus Company, Lee Po-wen, attended the launch press conference and explained that the Sanxia NTPU community has seen a growing population in recent years. To meet residents’ transportation needs, Taipei Bus Company launched Route 932 in 2012, originally operated with diesel coaches. The route departs from Sanxia Beida Community, travels via National Freeway No. 3 and Expressway No. 65, and stops at MRT Fuzhong Station, Banqiao Bus Station, and New Taipei City Hall Station. Due to its frequent service, direct route, high ridership, and affordable fares, it has been well-received by the public. Since its launch 13 years ago, annual ridership has reached 3.2 million passengers.

To provide higher-quality and lower-emission public transportation services while enhancing safety, quietness, and riding comfort, all 20 buses on Route 932 are being gradually replaced with large-capacity electric coaches featuring more passenger seats. The chairman Lee Po-wen emphasized that electric express buses operating on freeways or expressways cannot have standing passengers. Each 932 electric coach is equipped with 42 seats, compared to the 21–26 seats typically found on standard city electric buses. For safety assurance, every bus is equipped with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) and AEBS (Advanced Emergency Braking System). Using cameras and sensors, these systems detect vehicles and pedestrians ahead, and automatically brake when a collision risk is detected—reducing accident severity or preventing collisions. In addition, the buses feature large through-type luggage compartments, allowing passengers to carry bulky luggage without reducing seating space.

The chairman Lee expressed gratitude to the New Taipei City Government and the residents in Sanxia for their support. In addition to central government funding, the New Taipei City Government provided an additional subsidy of NT$1.5 million.
Following the deployment of 20 new express electric buses on Route 932, three more New Taipei City express routes—916, 937, and 966—will soon introduce a total of 17 electric express buses (5 for Route 916, 5 for Route 937, and 7 for Route 966). These efforts will continuously enhance service quality, providing citizens with comfortable and convenient public transportation.
