The 2025 Taiwan Hydrogen and Electric Bus Net Zero Mobility Forum took place at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center's South Hall on July 22nd. Master Bus exhibited Taiwan's first certified electric intercity bus. This bus boasts 10 key components, including the body assembly, steel frame, battery pack, battery management system (BMS), and vehicle control unit (VCU), all independently designed, developed, and manufactured by Master Bus.
The bus is also equipped with intelligent driving features such as Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Active Cruise Control (ACC), and Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS), providing passengers with an unprecedented safe, quiet, and comfortable highway travel experience.
To further integrate its upstream and downstream supply chains and improve production efficiency, Master Bus has invested in the construction of a 20-hectare electric bus industrial park in the Erlin Park of the National Taiwan Science Park (NTSTP). Construction is expected to be completed in March 2027. By implementing standardized production and automated manufacturing equipment, it will achieve intelligent production, create 600 jobs, and boost local industry development.
Concurrently, Master's electric bus production capacity will be significantly increased, with an estimated annual output of 2,000 complete vehicles and 10,000 custom parts, further meeting the demand for high-quality electric buses in the Taiwanese and international markets.
Master Bus began developing fast-charging electric buses in 2016 and has been approved by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications for three consecutive years under the Electric Bus Demonstration Program, achieving localization of ten key components.
In addition, Master Bus has been a qualified manufacturer under the Electric Bus Promotion Program since 2023. The company has also completed ECE R100.03 testing for its battery packs and is equipped with automated driving assistance systems featuring CSF and ACSF-B1 functions, providing the highest level of safety for passengers and drivers.
Master's electric bus fleet includes a 12-meter, two-door, low-floor city bus, a 9-meter, one-door, low-floor city bus, a 12-meter, one-door intercity bus, and a 7-meter low-floor city bus. Cheng Yun is the only electric bus manufacturer in Taiwan to offer a comprehensive range of models. To date, they have delivered over 400 electric buses to various cities and counties across Taiwan.
In addition, Master Bus has developed its own 450kW six-phase direct-drive motor specifically for long-distance intercity buses. This is a Taiwanese-made, internationally recognized motor with a power output of 603HP, providing powerful power and efficient energy conversion. This gives the intercity bus ample horsepower for long, hilly journeys, enabling a top speed of 105km/h and ensuring stable and efficient operation in all road conditions.
Master Bus independently developed a 12-meter intercity electric bus equipped with a Master -made 218kW fast-charging battery pack. 3C fast charging can charge the battery from SOC 20% to SOC 80% in 15 minutes. The single-charge range is approximately 227 kilometers, and the cumulative daily mileage can reach 1,000 kilometers. Long-distance passenger transportation using electric buses will achieve the goal of net zero emissions and is also an important milestone in public transportation.
