Master Bus Erlin Plant to Be Completed in March 2027 – Taiwan's First Intercity Electric Bus Unveiled
Infotimes / Reported by Chuang Ping-nung
To integrate its supply chain and enhance production efficiency, Master Bus has invested in the construction of an electric bus industrial park in the Central Taiwan Science Park’s Erlin Campus. The plant is scheduled for completion in March 2027, with an expected annual production capacity of 2,000 complete vehicles to meet both domestic and international market demand. At the 2025 Taiwan Hydrogen and Electric Bus Net Zero Mobility Forum held today at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center South Hall, Master Bus unveiled Taiwan’s first certified intercity electric bus. The vehicle features ten domestically produced key components, with the body assembly, steel frame, battery pack, Battery Management System (BMS), and Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) all independently designed, developed, and manufactured by Master Bus.
Since 2016, Master Bus has been engaged in the development of fast-charging electric buses, passing the electric bus demonstration program of the Ministry of Transportation for three consecutive years, and successfully localizing ten key components. Furthermore, since 2023, the company has been an approved manufacturer under the Electric Bus Promotion Program, and it has completed ECE R100.03 certification for its battery pack. The bus is also equipped with CSF and ACSF-B1 advanced driving assistance systems, ensuring maximum safety for both passengers and drivers.
Master Bus’s full range of electric buses includes: 12-meter two-door low-floor city bus, 9-meter single-door low-floor city bus, 12-meter single-door intercity coach, and 7-meter low-floor city bus. This makes Master Bus the only manufacturer in Taiwan offering a complete lineup of electric bus models. To date, the company has delivered over 400 electric buses to operators across various cities and counties in Taiwan.
The self-developed 12-meter electric intercity coach is equipped with Master’s proprietary 218 kW fast-charging battery pack, capable of charging from 20% to 80% State of Charge (SOC) in just 15 minutes under 3C fast charging. It offers a single-charge range of approximately 227 km, and can achieve a daily mileage of up to 1,000 km, enabling long-distance passenger transport with zero emissions, also a significant milestone for Taiwan’s public transportation sector.
Master’s Erlin Electric Bus Industrial Park project covers 20 hectares in the Central Taiwan Science Park. Upon completion in March 2027, the facility will feature standardized and automated smart manufacturing systems, creating 600 new jobs and driving local economic growth. The enhanced production capacity will reach 2,000 complete vehicles and 10,000 KD (knock-down) kits annually, further satisfying the demand for high-quality electric buses of local and global market.
