The 2025 Smart City and Net Zero City Expo took place at Hall 2 of the Nangang Exhibition Center from March 18th to 21st. Master Bus exhibited Taiwan's first electric intercity bus, independently developed, designed, and manufactured, on the 4th floor. A virtual power plant concept was also showcased on the 1st floor in collaboration with Delta Electronics. Master Bus showcased its 450kW direct-drive motor of highest specification at the exhibition and announced that its electric intercity bus will enter service in the second quarter of this year, setting a new benchmark for long-distance transportation in Taiwan.
Intercity electric buses will be put into operation in Q2 2025
In response to the international trend toward net-zero emissions, Master Bus has been committed to the independent research, development, and manufacturing of electric buses since 2015. In the second quarter of this year, Master Bus's electric intercity buses will officially hit the road. With their high efficiency, long range, and comfort, these buses will become a key option for intercity transportation in Taiwan.
Through electric intercity buses, Master Bus will not only achieve its net-zero carbon emissions goal but also improve intercity transportation. From urban buses to long-distance intercity coach, expanding from "points" to "lines," Master Bus’s continued development of electric 7-meter minibuses will fulfill the need of public transportation ‘from points, lines to network,’ leading the way in electric buses, completing the last mile and achieving a significant public transportation milestone.

Independently developed the highest specification 450kW direct drive motor
The highlight of Master Bus's exhibition this year was its independently developed 450kW direct-drive motor. This top-of-the-line motor is designed specifically for intercity electric coaches operating on long, hilly routes. It provides strong power and highly efficient energy conversion, ensuring smooth operation even on the most challenging routes.
Master Bus continues to deliver electric buses to passenger transport operators
Master Bus, integrating green energy with public transportation, is dedicated to the independent research, development and manufacturing of electric buses. After undergoing multiple professional certifications and functional verifications, it became Taiwan's first electric bus manufacturer to receive demonstration status in 2021. By the end of last year, 398 Master electric buses were operating throughout Taiwan. This year, Master Bus has continued the production of electric low-floor and intercity buses, which will be delivered to operators such as Capital Bus Group, Shin-Shin Bus, and Taoyuan Bus. These buses will be deployed throughout Taiwan's eight counties and cities, becoming a key driver of the government's push for full electrification of urban buses by 2030.
Business collaboration creates a win-win situation: electric buses and virtual power plants
As the government promotes renewable energy policies and encourages the liberalization of the electricity industry, Master Bus has partnered with Delta Electronics to leverage the advantages of electric buses and the strengths of Delta in energy management. This collaboration offers a comprehensive smart energy solution encompassing the DeltaGrid® energy management system and electric vehicle charging equipment. Combining electric buses with a virtual power plant demonstrates the importance of grid resilience. This time, a conceptual demonstration of the "Electric Bus x Virtual Power Plant" image was showcased at the Smart City Expo, aiming to achieve both net-zero emissions and stable power supply, fostering a steady future electricity market.
Combining R&D and innovation, Master Bus is moving towards net-zero carbon reduction
Smart cities and net-zero emissions are already a global trend. As a member of the national electric bus team, Master Bus is sharing important breakthroughs in the electric bus field, introducing its latest technologies and future plans. Adhering to the spirit of independent research, development and innovative technology, it continues to push the boundaries of technology and hopes to contribute more to the electric bus field in Taiwan and even the world, moving towards the goal of green public transportation and net-zero carbon reduction.
