According to the Japanese broadcast station NHK ONE, a Taiwanese company that manufactures electric buses announced that it will establish a new research facility in Hyuga City on June 1st. The announcement was made when Chairman Wu Ting-fa of Master Bus of Taiwan visited Hyuga City Hall.
Master Bus is one of the leading electric bus manufacturers in Taiwan. Chairman Wu stated, “We would like to establish a research facility in Hyuga City and advance research on electric buses.”
According to the plan of Master Bus, the company plans to open the research facility in Hyuga City by late September this year. Conducting research that aimed at improving the performance of electric bus and developing autonomous driving technologies. The company is also considering manufacturing electric buses within the city in the future.
In the interview, Chairman Wu referred to the advantage of the nearby Hososhima Port and said, “The major attraction is not only access to the Japanese market, but also the ability to sell products globally.”
Mayor Nishimura commented, “Taiwan possesses many technologies that are ahead of those in Japan, including electric buses. I hope that future technologies will be cultivated in Hyuga City and spread not only throughout Japan but across the world.”
